FAI Sporting Licences.

A contestant competing in a World or Continental Championship or Open International that is listed as such on the FAI calendar requires a current FAI Sporting Licence.

A FAI Sporting Licence is also required to establish FAI records.

In the UK, FAI Sporting Licences are issued by the BMFA on behalf of the Royal Aero Club.

To obtain a FAI Sporting Licence from the BMFA, you will need to prove that you are a British citizen (for example by holding a current British passport) or that you usually reside in the UK for at least 185 days in each calendar year.

You cannot hold, at the same time, a FAI Sporting Licence issued by more than one National Airsports Control.

Unless you have multiple nationality, if you have represented another country in a FAI event during the three years preceding the event in which you wish to compete, you cannot apply for a FAI Sporting Licence from the BMFA.

A full set of conditions, which include further definitions concerning rights of representation, are contained in FAI document FAI General Statutes - 2002, Chapter 8. This may be downloaded from the FAI website www.fai.org . The wording in the General Statutes is the official wording of all matters concerning FAI Sporting Licences.
